Can I use my MacBook Pro as a video monitor for a Sony HVR-V1U?

I don't have a tv monitor or LED monitor to use for a short movie shoot, and want to know if I can just hook the camera up to my MacBook Pro? please help with advice!

If you connect the Camcorder's DV port to the MacBook Pro's firewire port (using a 4-pin to 9-pin IEEE1394 firewire cable, then launch iMovie or final cut and import or capture the video, it *might* work - but it was not designed to operate that way...
