I want to get my boyfriend one of those web camera things so we can see each other and have a conversation when he's away to another country to volunteer for a few months. Is there a specific web camera for a laptop. Like do I have to know what kind of

A common web camera will use a USB connection, which almost all computers (Desktop and laptop) will have these days. Web camera's should work the same in a desktop or laptop, there aren't any laptop only web cameras, as they most often use USB connections.
