new laptop?

i am getting a new laptop soon. i am sort of on a budget....i have $900 to spend, but i would prefer to keep some if i could. so a cheaper laptop would be good.....im a junior in high school, i use the computer for email, instant messaging, typing reports,

DELL has some really good laptops starting at $499.99. HP also has some really good one too but you'll be paying a little more than $500.00 for one. HP systems due tend to last a little longer than the rest.
